Things To Avoid While Starting Weight Loss Programs

You know what, I think it’s time that you gave yourself a break. I think we’ve all been a little too hard on ourselves when it comes to our health and weight loss goals. This stuff takes time and we really need to remember that. When it comes to putting together a good diet for weight loss, sometimes people forget about some very important things that should be at the forefront of their mind.

Losing weight isn’t easy, but the simple fact that you are following one of the many weight loss programs says a whole lot about your character and what kind of person you want to be. So today we’re going to talk about a few things that can deter your motivation to lose weight. Once we get through all these myths, you’ll be stronger than ever to make sure you stay the course and reach all your weight loss goals.

Stop: Thinking that it’s impossible to lose weight

This has got to be one of the biggest obstacles people face with losing weight. The hardest part about dieting is having patience. If you have patience, you are 50% of the way there already. To lose weight, all you need is a proper diet, exercise, and the ability to stay the course for a few weeks.

The problem stems from all the weight loss programs out there that try to trick you into believing you can lose 20 lbs in a week. They prey on the hopes and dreams of people who want to lose weight, in the hope that they can trick them into buying a copy of their magazine. Everyone has a story of a friend or relative that claims the next big fad diet is the absolute easiest way to lose weight in no time at all. The problem with having people like that around you is that you actually start to believe it’s possible. The only thing that is “impossible” when it comes to losing weight, is following one of those “lose fat overnight” plans.

But there’s good news. The truth is, dieting and losing weight is possible for each and every person on this planet. If you can convince yourself that all you need to do is stay the course for a few weeks, once you see your progress, there will be no turning back.

Stop: Freaking Out About a Little Bit of Weight Gain

We’ve all been there. All the sudden you feel like you’re carrying a little more weight than you’re used to. Your pants are fitting a little too snug and you’re getting out of breath walking up the stairs at work. Gaining weight can happen to anyone without them realizing it. One of the worst ideas you can have is to jump onto one of the aforementioned crash diet plans that you hear about on the news.

Let me tell you how that scenario is going to go. So you woke up one day and decide that the 5lbs you put on over the last few months is just too much to bare. So you go to the store and grab the first magazine that offers the largest amount of fat loss in the shortest amount of time. You go home and decide to stick to one of these crazy weight loss programs for a couple weeks. After week one you start to feel your stomach grumbling like crazy. By week two, your stomach’s still grumbling and you feeling extra tired, but you stay the course and go another week on this horrible diet for weight loss. By week three, you’ve lost those 5 lbs you gained, but you feel more sluggish than ever.

The number one reason these crash diets never work is that once you’re done with them, that’s where the “crash” comes in. You can’t focus on your work anymore cause you’re so hungry and you end up bingeing on food all night just to feel normal. The next day is the same and so on and so on, until you wake up one day and realize you actually gained back those 5lbs and another 10lbs. Now I’m not saying this to try to scare you, but you have to realize that you can’t get shocked by a little bit of weight gain. If you want to lose weight, you need to diet for weight loss in a safe way that won’t have you rebounding again.

Stop: Thinking You Can Never Eat Another Slice of Cake

This is a big fear for a lot of people who decide to start a weight loss diet and I can understand why. Starting any diet for weight loss can be a scary thing when you don’t know what effect it may have on your eating habits. Are they going to make you throw out all of the food you are used to eating, then make you eat all of their strict diet food? Well, there are some plans that claim to do that, but my plan for example, is an easy way to take complete control of your diet so that you can eventually design a diet plan around whatever food you want.

What most people don’t realize, is that having a cheap meal is actually good for your weight loss diet goals. It gives you a sense of accomplishment for all your hard work and discipline to indulge in your favorite snack a little bit. In fact, a nice little slice of cake can be a great thing to shock your body into increasing its metabolism every once in a while

Stop: Thinking You Will Have to Force Feed “healthy” Food You hate

Any diet plan that restricts you to the exact same food for the rest of your life, isn’t a good plan to reach your weight loss goals. Nobody likes being stuck to the same diet with no indulgence foods in sight. So get it out of your head that you are going to have to eat the same food, weight loss shakes, and wheatgrass drinks every day. You will still be able to eat some of the food that you have enjoyed your whole life. Losing weight is all about finding the balance between a diet plan and your already established diet you know and love.

These are just a few of the myths about starting a new diet for weight loss. People have a very real fear that their lives are going to be completely changed for the worst when starting something different. To be honest, I can completely understand that. If you aren’t familiar with how to lose weight, it can be a scary process to delve into.

I have designed many weight loss plans and all of them are tailored around the fact that no one wants to completely revamp their diet and eat the same boring food every day. Knowing the tips above, you will be one step closer to seeing through the fog of all the gimmicky weight loss programs out there and you will come to realize that losing weight is actually pretty easy. It’s easy to have the motivation to lose weight when you know how to do it. You might just find that you can even have your cake and eat it too.
